HiRISE Lunar and Planetary Laboratory

Ever wondered how alien terrain might look like? HiRISE posted new images of the red planet. The "Orbiter" has been studying Mars, taking magnificent images of Mars since April 2006.

Images are available in different resolutions and within the public domain: there are no restrictions on their usage by anyone in the public, including news or science organizations. They do ask for a credit line where possible:

The NASA website hosts a large number of images from the Soviet/Russian space agency, and other non-American space agencies. These are not in the public domain.
